The Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce will host ProcureCon Hampton Roads on Nov. 2.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, 777 Waterside Drive, Norfolk. It will focus on energy, transportation and technology – from opportunities to action.
“The expo is an economic development and job creation conference,” said My Lan Tran, executive director of the Asian American Business Assistance Center, the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce and Virginia Asian Foundation. “It will showcase 20 buyers and decision makers seeking small business vendors to help them fulfill their commitment to their customers.”
Speakers include Ben Bruce, small business leader, Wells Fargo Bank, Mid-Atlantic Region; Jessie Yung, administrator, U.S. Federal Highway Administration, Virginia Region; Lisa Pride, administrator of administrative services, Virginia Department of Transportation; and Ronald Gartska, director of supply chain management, Dominion Energy.
Called a power matchmaking conference, ProcureCon includes breakfast, lunch, round robin matchmaking, networking and door prizes.

Henrico County-based Summit Information Solutions has moved to larger corporate office in Glen Allen.
The 15-year-old consulting firm now occupies 4,139 square feet at its new location at 4870 Sadler Road, Suite 102. Its previous office in the Innsbrook Corporate Center had 1,600 square feet.
The company has a second office in Huntsville, Ala., which it opened in 2014. Summit has a total of 58 employees at the two sites.
“Summit has been fortunate to experience significant growth over the past few years,” Shuganti Caradonna, the company’s president, said in a statement. “We realized we needed a larger corporate office to support our expanding core operations, promote collaboration and innovation, and provide a modernized environment for our associates. Like many other consulting firms, our teams spend significant time with our clients. We want our team to know they have a work/home base they can return to and comfortably hang out, share ideas, deliver on projects, and discuss lessons learned.”
The company provides management services, technology services, engineering services and 3-D virtual learning. It serves customers in the banking, transportation and logistics industries as well as nonprofit organizations.
Summit is a Virginia-certified small, women and minority business (SWaM), which has been named to Best Places to Work in Virginia the small business category for 2015-2017.
The company was also named Business of the Year this year by the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce.
Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce names Summit Information Solutions Best Business of 2017

Summit Information Solutions was named the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce Best Business of 2017. The award was presented by the chairman of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce Tinh D. Phan to Summit’s Founder and President Shuganti Caradonna at the Asian Chamber’s annual business conference on May 4, 2017.
“The Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce’s Award Selection Committee was highly impressed by your firm’s incredible entrepreneurial success records. We are thrilled to be able to present this award to you at ProcureCon Richmond during our annual Asian Business Award Luncheon this year,” said Phan.
Summit has been a member of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and continues to support the mission of the chamber. The chamber has more than 5,000 members with seven offices across Virginia. The Asian Chamber serves the mid-Atlantic region with members from Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
The mission of the Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce is to promote and facilitate the success of its members, Asian American and Pacific American businesses, and the communities they serve through networking, outreach, advocacy, and education.
Summit Information Solutions once again named Best Places to Work in Virginia

Summit Information Solutions was recently named as one of the 2017 Best Places to Work in Virginia. It’s the third year in a row the information technology company has made the list. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Virginia was created by Virginia Business and Best Companies Group. In 2015, Summit was listed as number 52, and continued to move up the list to number 33 in 2016 and number 14 in 2017. The company has 58 employees in two locations. The headquarters is located in Richmond, Virginia with a satellite office in Huntsville, Alabama.
This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. The 2017 Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of 100 companies.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in the state of Virginia;
- Have at least 15 employees working in the state of Virginia; and
- Be in business a minimum of 1 year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Virginia and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final ranking.

Summit Information Solutions Contributes to Huntsville Economy by Opening Second Location

The newest addition to Summit Information Solutions is its new office in Huntsville, Alabama. The small, woman, minority-owned business provides Information Technology management services, technology services, and engineering services.
Summit is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia and has been providing information technology solutions since 2002. The new office in Huntsville has deep roots for president and founder of Summit Information Solutions, Shuganti Caradonna. Shuganti grew up in Huntsville and earned two degrees from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH); while attending UAH Shuganti met her husband Chris Caradonna. Huntsville was where the couple decided to raise their family.
“We are excited and grateful to be able to return to our Huntsville roots,” Caradonna said. “Huntsville is the place where we both were educated, where our children were born and raised, where much of our family still resides, and where our careers were launched.”
The Huntsville area is growing and attracting government contracting agencies. In the past five years the city has grown by 5.8% in population. While the recent job growth is not impressive the future job growth comes in at 31.6%.
